Ecofest MARIM ’18
Eco events are the best.
Fact: most of our daily and social activities – in one way or another – jeopardize significantly our environment. We have known this for a long time, and media all over the world has turned environmental issues into something so vile that makes most of us feel hopeless like there’s nothing we can do about it. In addition to this, it’s upon us – individuals belonging to society – to change our habits and make it ok – with no promise of cooperation or adaptation from the community mentioned above. But according to Dennis Weaver, “we don’t have to sacrifice a strong economy for a healthy environment.”
And we feel like that’s precisely what Ecofest MARIM ’18 manages to show our community.
From the 4th to the 6th of May, there will be an unbelievable amount of activities taking place in Parque Natural da Ria Formosa, Marim, Olhão – all modesty aside, one of the most beautiful places on mother earth. Animation, Magic, Story Telling, Donkey Rides are some of the activities available throughout the three days of the festival, and they are all “family friendly” obviously.
Olhão, mostly known as the captain of the fishing industry – with a spectrum of several known legends and stories of the sea due in some other post, promise – gained its presence through the growth in several other industries, such as leisure or tourism, comparable to regional capitals and much bigger cities. In 1987 the Natural Reserve of Ria Formosa – with 60km along the coast of the Algarve and part of 5 different municipalities – received the status of Natural Park and became one of Portugal’s main tourist attractions.
This place is home to hundreds of species, some of them unique in this environment and is responsible for most of Portugal’s wildlife preservation. This is the setting for the Ecofest of the year. Is it bound to be fantastic right?
As if that wasn’t enough, this festival will put you in touch with great artists guaranteeing a variety of musical genre to die for – from harpist Helena Madeira to Discossauro DJ Set, Anonima Nuvolari, and many many others.
We would also like to recommend Filipa Rodriguez’s performance/dance show accompanied by accordionist Donatello – for the environmental concern, we know this artist has when creating her work and when spreading her message.
Also, worth mentioning, that every day begins with Cleaning Brigade at 9 am to get you in a planet-friendly mood – except for Sunday the 6th where all early birds can go Bird Watching at 8 am and watch other early birds doing their thing. These aren’t the only activities with the purpose to interchange knowledge and bring a more conscious mentality to our lives, as you can see in the lineup here.
